We hope you are all well and staying healthy!
Based on speaking with other flight schools and in further review and clarification of the Department of Homeland Security Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce, we have made the decision to reopen Great Basin Aviation on Saturday, April 25th. We apologize for any delay the closure this last month put on your training progress, however, we did not want to reopen until we knew both legally and ethically it was time. We are going to start off slow with just a few planes then open up more as bookings increase. This will be easier to manage from a cleanliness standpoint. Aircraft available are N6025F, N2291C, N752DW, and N328ME. Also, if you had a checkride booked with Dave Tranquilla, please reach out to him as he is starting to reschedule those exams. Like all segments of the community, we will implement new safety precautions. It will be required that instructors, students, and renters wear a face mask while in the aircraft and maintain the social distancing requirements outside of the cockpit. Also, if a personal headset is not being used, each person who uses GBA headsets will be required to purchased their own Foam Microphone Windscreen for $2. You can keep it in your file or flight bag, just somewhere you can use it again and again. We have foam pieces in the GBA office. We also expect that the flight controls, door, seat, headset, and panel are wiped down after each use and windows be kept open when the aircraft is parked. We will provide the cleaning supplies. The health of all of you is of the utmost concern and we will do everything necessary to make sure the aircraft are sterile. Lastly, while we love having visitors in the office and catching up, until there is more guidance from the CDC, we ask that you please limit your time in the GBA office and when in there, maintain the social distancing requirements. Binders are still kept in there but please utilize the conference rooms for debriefs, meet your instructor in the lobby or by the plane, and use email, text, or phone to communicate with the office for any questions, comments, and/or concerns. Please reach out if you have any questions in the time being. Flight Schedule Pro has been updated for the reopening and aircraft and instructor availability. Thank you again for your patience and understanding. We hope to see you soon!
