Why not finish off the week with a successful CFI checkride!! Congratulations to Eric Tallberg who is GBA’s newest Certified Flight Instructor! Eric has been working tirelessly on this all while managing full time work, family, and travel. Eric’s love of aviation and teaching kept him focused on this goal. We are so excited for Eric and the door this opens for him. Eric started his instruction with CFI Taylor Phillips and completed all requirements and training with CFI Matt Stubblefield. A huge congratulations as well to both these guys for the instruction and training of Eric! Watch for Eric’s schedule to be loaded into Flight Schedule Pro soon. Enjoy celebrating your success Eric! Fridays are great but made even better when you SOLO!!! Congratulations to Nathan Morin who soloed today at KCXP, runway 27, in N752DW. Nathan took the C172S for a few joyride laps as his proud instructor, Matt Stubblefield, looked on. Nathan loves aviation! Works as a loader with UPS aviation, plane spots like a madman (follow him on instagram, rno_plane_spotter), and helps out GBA when he can. Nathan should be so proud as he just reached a huge step on his path to career pilot at only 15 hours! Awesome job Nathan and Matt!!  Congratulations to Joseph Hailey who earned his instrument rating today in N10446 out of our KCXP location! Joseph has been coming into town from Southern California for blocks at a time to train. Joseph and his instructor, Matt Bowers, have been putting in overtime to work through the instrument requirements during these blocks, most of the time with twice a day flights. Today’s success made the travel and exhausting days all worth it! Joseph isn’t wasting anytime and is immediately jumping into his commercial. Awesome job crushing this aviation milestone Joseph!! Keep pushing and stay focused. The hard work will definitely pay off!  Roger Peralta is Northern Nevada’s newest private pilot!! Congratulations to Roger as he fought through the afternoon heat and crazy weather conditions, plus the insane traffic here at KRNO, to earn his private pilot certificate. Roger has been working on his PPL for the last several months. His training has been filled with cruddy weather, driving in from Truckee, and having to balance full time work and life. But today he understood how sweet the reward of hard work and overcoming obstacles is. Amazing job by him and his instructor Emmett Castellan! Roger has amazing goals and we are so excited that he completed this first step. “Hard work is its own reward. Work for the life you want not for the one you have.” Congratulations again Roger!  A huge congratulations to Anthony Winder who earned his Private Pilot Certificate today in N670CS!! Anthony is a busy guy as a C-130 Crew Chief with the Nevada Air National Guard. Despite his important duties, he was also able to focus on his license and passed his checkride today at just 44 hours!! An amazing accomplishment for him and his instructor Danny Britson. We are excited to get you started on your instrument rating! "Opportunity does not knock, it presents itself when you beat the door down."  Happy National Aviation Day!! "Aviation is proof that given the will, we have the capacity to achieve the impossible." - Eddie Rickenbacker  Congratulations to Chris Olivero who soloed today at KRTS, runway 08, in N670CS!! Chris has been going to school and working full time all while juggling flight lessons and ground school. Today he realized how hard work and persistence pays off. His instructor, Matt Stubblefield watched on as Chris completed pattern work on a busy flying day. Congratulations again to Chris and his instructor Matt!! Let the celebration begin!  Congratulations to Drew Wallace who soloed today at KRTS on Runway 26 in N752DW!! Drew is a definitely determined. He is an expert brewmaster in Mammoth and drives up to Reno a few times a month to work on his PPL. Today he realized how awesome it is to be the only guy in the cockpit as he dropped his instructor Emmett Castellan off and took several laps in the pattern. Such an awesome achievement for Drew and Emmett!! "There is no magic in achievement. It is really about hard work, choices, and persistence.” We can’t wait to celebrate with you as you earn your PPL!  The 17 year old pilots are on fire today!! It was a busy day at Stead, but two young GBA students soloed! Reese Davis soloed at KRTS, runway 8, in N752DW while his proud Dad and instructor, Danny Britson, looked on. Reese started flying when he was 16 and has been on fire. Then, Tate Neubecker, re-soloed on the same runway in N2291C. CFIs Matt Stubblefield and Nik Joshi watched from the sidelines as Tate flew his laps in the Stead pattern. Tate soloed at 16 but took a break from flying and is now back and crushing it. Both these guys well on their way to their checkride. Congratulations to both these young men! Their motivation is so inspiring. Keep up the awesome work guys!  Congratulations Ethan!! Ethan Chinowsky arrived with a private pilot certificate from New Zealand. He studied the U.S regulations and is now a U.S. certificated private pilot. Also a shout out to Matt his instructor, great work guys!  |
