Saturday solo! Congratulations to Patrick O'Brien for soloing at Stead (KRTS), runway 32. Patrick works full time and can only fly a couple days a week but is super motivated to get his PPL then start his advanced training. He soloed at 17 hours!! Congratulations to one of our newest student pilots taking to the sky! Buttons … check. Dials … check. Switches … check. Little colored blinking lights … check. Garrett just started his flight training yesterday in N752DW with Dane! His smile says it all.
Beautiful day for a high performance endorsement! Here is Chief Instructor Jeff Sanders with his student Brenden after they completed high performance training in the 182T, N6025F. Even photobombing Chad smiled for the picture 😁
Today Denny is making his way back to Reno from Lincoln, NE with this beauty, N752DW! A 2001 172S Skyhawk that will join the Great Basin Aviation fleet early next week. Its twin, N670CS, will join us in a couple more weeks. More information will be posted soon. You can follow Denny's path on Flight Aware: https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N752DW.
Congratulations to GBA's newest soloed students!! Rob Stave soloed on Sunday, 9/16, in N10446 at KCXP and David Berman soloed today, 9/17, N37JA at KCXP as well. The solo flight is an exhilarating, exciting, nerve racking and a downright amazing experience from which Rob and David walked away feeling accomplished and awesome. Congratulations to these two as they continue on their path to Private Pilot!
If you are out at the Air Races make sure to stop by our booth. We are next to the FAA across from the tower. Hope to see you at the races! One of the best presents is the gift of flight. 16 year old Jackson got that today! His dad surprised him with a Discovery Flight in N2291C with Dane for his birthday. They flew out east and even circled their house so his mom and siblings could look up and see them. Dad hopped in the back seat and got to go too. Definitely a memorable 16th birthday! 🎉

"An airplane stands for freedom, for joy, for the power to understand, and to demonstrate that understanding." Today Greg Olson fully demonstrated that understanding and passed his checkride in N2291C! Congratulations to him on this incredible accomplishment!
