The greatest photo opportunities always come between snow storms. Check out David's scenic flight over Tahoe. Dang...can it get any prettier! What can we say about Kenan McDonald….well, for one he is a pretty cool guy (his words) and knows how to tab out a FAR/AIM like no one’s business. But not just that, he is now a Private Pilot!! Kenan is Reno’s newest pilot to earn his ticket to freedom. He flew his favorite, N495SP, around Northern Nevada demonstrating his skilled private pilot proficiencies. Once back at KRNO, he heard the congratulatory words, "you passed." He was so excited that he even forgot to check the plane back in :) Kenan has been working hard in between his full time Air Guard duties, ground school studying, and practicing his private pilot maneuverers. He set his mind to accomplish a goal and worked hard to get there. We are so happy for Kenan and the adventures he will now have. Congratulations to Kenan and his instructor Levi!
Look out world! There'a new Aviatrix in the sky. Nicole Gonzalez soloed in N309PS yesterday as her instructor, Levi Mellows, looked on. Nicole has professional piloting on her radar scope and has been excelling through our program since she started in October. She brings a relaxed 'can-do' attitude to her flying that is wonderful to see. Great job Nicole and great job Levi for this milestone!
Oh dang....look who got his tailwheel endorsement!! Mr. "925" himself, Sam Armstrong. Sam flew the last few evening with CFI/II Bob Bennett and Tristan Armstrong to earn this sweet add-on to his already impressive training thus far. Sam has big, achievable goals in sight and we are excited for his next adventure. Congratulations Sam!!
Check out Mike's gorgeous shot over Walker Lake! Mike and CFI/II Tristan took to the Northern Nevada sky for a beautiful XC flight out to Hawthorne and back. Nothing beats the view from the sky!
Check out this adorable smile!! What would make Jackson Perry, graduated Dartmouth Defensive Lineman, smile this big? It wasn’t taking down the opposing offense…it was his first solo!! That’s right, Jackson soloed today in N670CS, KRNO, on runway 16L. He dropped his instructor Tristan Armstrong off on the Atlantic ramp, taxied back, and took off. Jackson cruised through a few laps in the pattern, had smooth landings and great radio calls. This most memorable flight allowed him to log his first PIC time; a column which is empty no more. Jackson has been going non-stop the past couple weeks, flying everyday, weather permitting. That focus and hard work paid off. Congratulations Jackson!! We are so excited to see what the next few weeks brings. Great job to Tristan as well.
It is true that “a mile of highway will take you a mile. A mile of runway will take you anywhere!” Pilot Cody and his always-up-for-an-adventure navigator Sandra, flew to Half Moon Bay yesterday by way of the popular Bay tour! We are lucky that we are close to so many cool places to fly. Cody takes full advantage of his "wings" and has marked the Grand Canyon, Bay tour, and some other cool places off his list all while logging time toward his advanced ratings in the trusty 172. Use your wings for what you got them for! Get out there and explore
