Instrument Rating
Flying in instrument meteorological conditions (low visibility and clouds) requires additional training. This is the next step for many in their flight training. Further developing ones flying skills with instrument training makes every pilot a more proficient and safer pilot.

- FAA Minimum Flight Time:
- At least 50 hours of cross-country flight time as pilot in command. At least 10 of these hours must be in airplanes for an instrument-airplane rating
- 40 of actual or simulated instrument time which 15 hours must have been received from an authorized instructor who holds an instrument-airplane rating
- 3 hours of instrument flight training from an authorized instructor in an airplane that is appropriate to the instrument-airplane rating within 2 calendar months before the date of the practical test
- Instrument flight training on cross country flight procedures, including one cross country flight in an airplane with an authorized instructor, that is performed under instrument flight rule, at least 250NM from home base.
