    James Morgan - PPL

    ​From his humble beginning as just an all around nice guy to earning his Private Pilot’s License today, James Morgan soared to success in N495SP becoming Reno and Northern Nevada’s latest member in the Aviator’s Club. James worked hard to reach this achievement in between working for Alaska Airlines and being a true go-getter. Nice work James! Enjoy every minute of your new freedoms.

    Saturday Morning Solo!!

    While most of Northern Nevada was sleeping in, this awesome guy, Sam Hutton was soloing N670CS on runway 24 at KSPZ!! Sam completed the first page in his logbook with .3 PIC! Such an incredible achievement! Sam always comes well prepared for his lesson and ready to go. It is not like he doesn’t have anything else going on... he splits his time between flying, proudly serving in the Nevada Air Guard, studying engineering at UNR, and practicing Jiu Jitsu. Congratulations to Sam on achieving this most memorable milestone!! Great job as well to his instructors Mark Montague and Eric Tallberg!

    Twofer Friday - New Private Pilot

    ​After a grueling oral exam and a smokey-hot flight in the afternoon winds of Reno, Cody Lucero became Reno’s latest certified Private Pilot! Cody flew N495SP around the skies north of Reno and had all checkboxes filled for a successful outcome to this huge milestone. Cody breezed through his training, with instructor Levi Mellows, demonstrating a dedication and discipline rarely seen. His easy going but serious personality is exactly what aviation needs. Cody serves in the Navy and is currently stationed at Fallon. He spent several years serving in Japan before returning to Northern Nevada. We couldn’t be more proud of you, Cody! Congratulations Pilot Cody Lucero!

    Friday Morning Solo!

    ​After a cool but hazy ride to the airport on his motorcycle in the predawn air, Adam Laub soloed N752DW in Carson City on Runway 27. His instructor, Levi, looked on with pride and a smile as his student gracefully circled the airport and made successful takeoffs and landings like a well greased barbecue grill. Speaking of which, Adam has balanced a very active professional life during his training and continues to come in and talk food with us here in the office in between flights. Good job on this milestone! Here’s to the rest of the journey. Keep the blue side up!

    Tanner Barkowski - Solo

    ​Tanner Barkowski flew N670CS for several laps in the pattern today to Runway 16L as instructor, Austin, listened intently on the radio. Tanner has been working on his Private Pilots License with us for a short while now and has accelerated through his training with skill. His super-polite demeanor and expert radio work today helped make this slightly smokey day one for his personal record books. Nice work Tanner!

    FAA WINGS

    We wanted to take a moment to promote the FAA WINGS Pilot Proficiency Program. If you are not familiar with it, WINGS is a great way to maintain currency and proficiency with your aviation knowledge. Many of the programs can be taken and then counted toward the knowledge portion of the BFR. That means when you need a BFR, you already have the ground portion completed!
