    Tanner Barkowski - Solo

Tanner Barkowski flew N670CS for several laps in the pattern today to Runway 16L as instructor, Austin, listened intently on the radio. Tanner has been working on his Private Pilots License with us for a short while now and has accelerated through his training with skill. His super-polite demeanor and expert radio work today helped make this slightly smokey day one for his personal record books. Nice work Tanner!

    Will Smith - Private Pilot!

Reno's newest private pilot, Will Smith, took his checkride today and passed with flying colors. Will took advantage of some time home from school in Tennessee over the last three months and knocked out his license in about three months. This includes an astronomical score on the PPL written. Impressive! Congratulations Will, and to his instructor Levi, for this accomplishment. We're proud of you!

    Runway 25/7 Closure

If you haven't heard the news, Runway 25/7 at KRNO will be closed today (Aug.10) through Sep. 18. Please plan your flights accordingly especially with consideration to your personal minimum for crosswinds. If Runway 25 is closed and either Runways 16 or 34 are active, your crosswind component could easily exceed the limits of aircraft and pilot very quickly.

Never hesitate to ask for assistance with your flight planning if we can be of any help.

    Thank you and fly safe!

    KRTS Solo - Runway 8

New Flash: Kyle Georgeson took to the sky at the Stead Airport today and lifted off from Runway 8 for his first solo flight. His instructor, Levi Mellows, decided it was time to let Kyle do the honors totally on his own and he did so with skill. Kyle is a full-time student in college and has a very supportive family behind his pursuit of flight. He has even talked about doing this professionally if the winds are right. Kyle overcame a brief hiatus of about a day, non-COVID related, when he turned 21. All was well again soon enough. Keep up the great work, Kyle!

    Runway 32 Solo!!

Congratulations to Seth Freedman-Peel who soloed today at Reno-Stead Airport on Runway 32 in N752DW. Seth started with us in mid-July and has been on the fast track being a professional pilot. Along with aviation Seth holds down full time work at a bicycle shop in our area and enjoys being a happy dad to his cats. Fitting since the Wright Brothers got their start as bicycle mechanics and had a cat named Old Mom! Congrats again to Seth and his instructors Brenden and Pete. Keep it up!

    Thursday Solo!!

Thursday solo anyone? Why not! Mr. Benjamin Hamilton logged his first PIC time today in N328ME when instructor, Brenden Georg, stepped out and told him to take a few laps in the pattern at KCXP. Ben is working full time with plans to attend school real soon. He's had ideas cross his mind of making this a full-time gig down the road but hasn't quite decided yet. We'll work on him! Nice job, Ben! We're proud of your accomplishments!
