Happy Sunday evening y’all! Well, I do declare that Alabama transplant, Jordan Cauley, is a mighty fine soloed pilot. That’s right, this southern charmer was set free in the pattern at KRNO, runway 16L in N752DW. His CFI, Kurtis Hornung watched from the ramp as Jordan shared the sky with the busy KRNO traffic. Jordan does an incredible job coming in regularly for flight lessons, working on ground school plus balancing work, family and keeping up on his drumming skills. Jordan is fixin’ to now finish off his private pilot requirements and fly, fly, fly until the cows come home (it’s an Alabama thing). I reckon there will be much celebrating tonight after such a momentous milestone. Awesome job and huge congratulations to Jordan and Kurtis! ​

​On Thanksgiving Eve, Bobby gave us pumpkin’ to talk about, that is for sure. What is Bobby Yarhi thankful for this Thanksgiving…solo flight!! Thank’s right, our favorite male front desk Atlantic CSR was tossed out of the nest at KRTS, runway 08 in N495SP. And oh my gourd, he greased those landings as his CFI Troy Ware watched from the sidelines. This was Troy’s first soloed student at GBA too, so lots to celebrate!! Stuffing compares to that first solo flight for either the student or CFI. Especially on a cool Northern Nevada morning in a calm pattern. Bobby has goals set and a specific timeline to complete it. He is determined to have no one or nothing marsh his mallow. Huge congratulations to Bobby and his awesome CFI Troy! While this flight opens the gates for a ton more fun in the sky, today, it doesn’t get any butter than this!

Push that MD degree off to the side Dr. Hall, there is a new centerpiece for your office. Wes Hall is now a certificated Private Pilot!! Talk about grueling schedules…this always cheerful, always brightening the office, busy local surgeon made time to fly in between his regular office hours, being on call, trauma surgeries, family time, chronic studying, and acing his Private Pilot knowledge test all while never losing his patients :) This allowed for a very noninvasive checkride being it was obvious Wes went in extremely well prepared. Wes fell in love with aviation, and it was not all in vein. He plans to put this certificate to good use and explore aviation further. No acute obsession here. Congratulations to his CFI Cody Lucero and the other instructors who helped Wes along the way. Prognosis is excellent, Wes can now fly our gorgeous sky!
