Community Support

Great Basin Aviation – Community Support Pillars

Great Basin Aviation is proud to be part of the Northern Nevada community. We believe in giving back and supporting causes that align with our passion for aviation, education, and service. This document outlines the key community support pillars that guide our sponsorship and donation efforts. It is intended to help nonprofit organizations determine whether their cause aligns with GBA’s values. If your organization's mission aligns with one or more of these pillars, we welcome you to reach out and explore a potential partnership.

Aviation Access & Education: We are dedicated to making the joy of flight accessible to all. This pillar focuses on educational initiatives that bring aviation within reach of more people. GBA supports programs that introduce individuals to flying, such as introductory “discovery” flights, aviation workshops, school presentations, and scholarship opportunities for aspiring pilots. Our goal is to inspire curiosity and break down barriers to entering the field of aviation, ensuring anyone with a passion for flight has the chance to learn, participate, and make their flying dreams a reality.

Youth Outreach & Mentorship: Inspiring the next generation of aviators is a core part of our mission. Through youth outreach and mentorship, GBA engages with young people to spark early interest in aviation and guide them along their journey. We participate in school career days, aviation camps, and youth mentorship programs that connect students with pilots and instructors. From the Young Aviators Boot Camp, Bring your Kid to Work, and other events to coaching youth teams (like a local Girls on the Run group), we strive to encourage young minds to dream big – both on the ground and in the sky. By nurturing curiosity and confidence in youth, we hope to cultivate future pilots, engineers, and aviation enthusiasts.

Military & Veteran Support: We honor those who serve and have served our country. GBA is committed to supporting military personnel and veterans through initiatives that recognize their sacrifice and help integrate them into the aviation community. This pillar involves partnering with veteran organizations and sponsoring events or fundraisers that benefit veterans. For example, we have proudly supported local charity events (such as the Mustang 22 poker night and the Veterans Guest House) aimed at raising funds for veteran services and organizations. By backing such efforts, we strive to ensure that the brave men and women who served receive the recognition and resources they deserve. We also seek to provide opportunities for veterans to engage with aviation, whether for recreational purposes, therapeutic benefits, or career development, as a way to give back to those who have given so much.

Instructor Development & Professional Growth: As a leading flight training center, supporting our instructors and other aviation professionals is vital to the health of the flying community. This pillar focuses on the growth and professional development of flight instructors (CFIs) and aspiring aviation professionals. GBA encourages continuous learning and career progression for instructors by providing mentorship, advanced training opportunities, and even a clear pathway from student pilot to certified flight instructor within our own program. We also participate in initiatives and industry forums that help instructors refine their skills, achieve higher certifications, and share best practices. These efforts ultimately improve the quality and safety of flight training for everyone, and they ensure that future generations of pilots have excellent mentors to guide them.

Submitting a Sponsorship Request: We welcome sponsorship and donation requests from nonprofits whose work aligns with one or more of the above pillars. When reaching out to GBA, please be prepared to provide specific details about your organization and how your mission or project connects to our community pillars. This information helps us evaluate requests fairly and understand the impact of your work. When submitting a request, please include:
  • Organization Overview: A brief introduction to your organization and its mission, including whom you serve and the community impact you strive for.
  • Alignment with GBA’s Pillars: Identify which of GBA’s community support pillar(s) your request aligns with, and explain how your program or cause reflects the goals of those pillar(s).
  • Program or Event Details: Describe the specific project, program, or event for which you seek support. Include what the initiative entails and how it benefits the community.
  • Expected Impact: Share the expected outcomes or impact of your initiative (e.g. number of people served, skills or awareness imparted, lives improved). How will this make a difference?
  • How GBA’s Support Helps: Detail how a sponsorship or donation from Great Basin Aviation would be used and why our support is important to the success of your initiative.
  • Contact and Timeline: Provide your contact information and note any key dates/deadlines we should be aware of (for instance, event dates or a deadline for funding).
Being as specific as possible in your request will help us understand your needs and expedite our decision-making process. We truly appreciate the work local nonprofits do and will carefully consider how we can support causes that resonate with our community values.
Contact Information: For all sponsorship or donation inquiries and proposal submissions, please contact us at [email protected]. We look forward to learning about your organization and exploring how we can soar to new heights together in supporting our community.
