    Lloyd Soloed!!

Hip hip, hooray! Lloyd Decker, local chiropractor, and now a fully soloed student pilot, did not crack under pressure as he demonstrated his skills by taking on Runway 08 at KRTS. All heads turned without a kink as this local Doc took N328ME to the sky this time without his CFI, Richard Brong. Lloyd flew his first few laps of freedom with no adjustment needed. Congratulations to Lloyd Decker and his instructor Richard Brong on this crack-a-lackin huge milestone. Time to crack down and study for that Private!

    Dayna is a big deal!

“Oh? You said you needed to see my Driver’s License… sorry, I thought you said my private pilot license, I’m kind of a big deal.” – These are the words of someone with a million awesome points, and that someone today is Dayna Eder! Dayna Eder, GBA’s prime-time doughnut consumer, is officially a certified private pilot! Coming down from Truckee, flying nearly five days a week, and being an influential member of WAI’s Sierra Battle Born chapter, this inspiring aviatrix has worked diligently over the last couple of months to reach this point, and now she can finally flaunt that certificate everywhere she goes! It's incredible to see the progression towards private pilot, and that’s why we give our biggest congratulations to Dayna Eder and her instructor, Kurtis Hornung, on reaching this extraordinary milestone! Let’s keep chasing this dream and enjoy that box of doughnuts 😉

    Weekend Solo!!

Kevin Munson, computer scientist and flight simulator extraordinaire, was able to put his practice and skills to the ultimate test yesterday afternoon when he soloed in none other than N495SP, the plane he took his discovery flight in, at KRTS!! Kevin has been balancing his college and aviation life for the last couple months and finally was able to kick his instructor, Troy Ware, out of the cockpit to bask in the glory of solo flight. Kevin is incredibly interested in instrument flying and advancing his skills in N2291C. All in time, young grasshopper 😉. Congratulations to Kevin Munson and his instructor Troy Ware on this amazing accomplishment! Let’s keep this progress going as we work towards that Private!!

    Engineered Into the Left Seat

What do you do when you’re bored? Learn a new hobby. What do you do when you have a lot of hobbies? Work on a degree in engineering at UNR, apparently. What do you do when you have a lot of hobbies like photography, mountain biking, cooking, dogs, AND you’re working on an engineering degree at UNR? Why you learn to fly, of course! Today, that was Mason Solberg as he soared to a successful check-ride in N495SP.  This talented young aviator showed he had the discipline and skill to fly to certification. It has been great seeing Mason grow! Good job on the rating. Maybe now Dad will loan you the keys to the 182? Congrats to his instructor, Richard Brong, too.

Sergio can fly in the clouds!

You know the pilot is serious when they get out and paint their own runway markings. That’s what you can usually find Sergio Callegari doing, but not today...On this last day of January, he earned the difficult to achieve Instrument Pilot rating! Sergio flew N2291C around Northern Nevada on this beautiful, picturesque day without being able to see a thing. This pilot works construction at airports in the state of Nevada and has been poking holes in the sky since earning his private pilot in Susanville in 2008. Congratulations to Sergio and his instructor Cody Lucero! Nice job. Stop watching "The Greatest Showman" (even though we and his kids agree the music is incredible) and start working on that Commercial! 😁
