    Reese Davis - Private Pilot

What does the Wednesday before Easter in 2021 have to do with Reese Davis? It's the day he earned his Private Pilot's License in N328ME, that's what! This 19 year old Oakland A's fan has reached this milestone while balancing other important pursuits (like school) and put in the hard effort to get the job done. With great support from his family, Reese flew to success and heard the words we all want to hear, "You passed!" Congratulations to Reese and his instructor, Danny, for a job well done.

US Pilot Add-On - Hans Visser

On a day where most pilots chose not to fly, what does Hans Visser do? He gets a US pilots license, of course! Hans is a Namibian born South African and came to the United States years go. He held piloting privileges in South Africa but needed to get an FAA certificate to fly here in the US. That meant a check-ride! While this multi-hundred hour aviator already knew how to fly a plane, he attacked this the training required here with diligence and drive. Working with our own Tristan Armstrong, Hans flew N670CS to a successful ride in challenging conditions. Perhaps it’s from owning his own tech company, perhaps it’s knowing he will fly his Turbo 210 with new certificate? No matter! Hans got the job done and done well. Congratulations!

    New ground instructors!

GBA is excited to welcome two more advanced ground instructors, Chris Buckley and Kris Timmons!! Ground school is such a vital aspect of aviation education and does not stop with earning the private certificate. Aviation ground school serves several important purposes for new and long-professional pilots. Since aviation ground school is so important to each aspect of a pilot’s career, it makes sense to treat it with the seriousness it deserves. This is why GBA keeps adding to its list of ground instructors. Both Chris and Kris are active pilots and advanced ground instructors. These two join the ranks with Cody Lucero (AGI, IGI) and Sean McSweeney (AGI, IGI). These four are excited to work with you in truly getting that understanding of ground school information from private pilot, instrument, and commercial. All schedules are in FSP.

    Tailwheel Times Two!

Whoa! What?? Two tail wheel endorsements in one day? It has been a busy day for Citabria N16RG. Ethan Vincent and our very own Jennifer Fonda decided to see what it was like to fly a conventional wheeled aircraft and accepted the challenge. Tailwheel? Why not?!? Great work to both of you and to your instructor, Bob Bennett, for letting go of the controls. That's how it's done!

    Rotorcraft Transition

Huge congratulations to Dan Waters for earning his private pilot certificate today!! It was an early morning for Dan as he flew to Silver Springs when the sun was just making its appearance. All worth it in the end though because he is now licensed to fly! Dan is no stranger to aviation…he is an A&P, Chinook maintenance test pilot, and Blackhawk instructor pilot. Dan realized that there is more to aviation than hovering and started a few months ago on his fixed wing transition. So yes ladies and gentleman, even Army helicopter pilots can be taught to fly general aviation airplanes. His instructor Josh Bunker is proof of that too :) Awesome job to both Dan and Josh!
