N10446 has new windows!! Gone is the 1974 sun damaged windscreen. All new windows give this incredible aircraft the look of a new airplane. N10446 is available for rental out of KCXP. Let us know if you do not have access to the Carson schedule but would like it. Also, N2291C and N328ME have received their ADSB upgrades. N328ME received a GNX 375, which N37JA will also get in the next few weeks. Thank you for flying with us! We hope you enjoy these updates/upgrades to the GBA fleet.
Congratulations to Ethan Chinowsky who earned his Instrument Rating today!! Ethan originally earned his pilot’s license in New Zealand several years ago. He moved to the United States and started flying with us and decided he wanted to pursue advanced ratings. So, he earned his US Private Pilot in August, and now today, his Instrument! All while being a full time UNR Mechanical Engineering student, active athletic life, and working as supervisor at the UNR Starbucks. Now on to your Commercial and CFI!! Congratulations as well to his instructors Dane Meyerhoff and Matt Stubblefield! The harder you work for something the greater you’ll feel when you achieve it!
Josue and Daniela had an amazing morning taking a discovery fight over Tahoe with Instructor Mark Montague. This was the first time the two young, future aviators took to the sky in a small aircraft. Their family watched as they took off and landed and got out of the plane full of smiles. Every expert was once a beginner. Today, these two started the journey
Congratulations to Robert McDougal on earning his private pilot certificate today!! This just adds to another one of his many accomplishments. In addition to being a rancher, accomplished architect, and County Commissioner, he can now add licensed pilot to the list. Robert has worked incredibly hard for this and today his late nights studying and constant flying paid off. This make two pilots now in Robert’s household. We are so excited for all the adventures ahead of you guys! A huge congratulations to his instructor Emmett Castellan as well! “The greatest adventure is what lies ahead.”
Congratulations to "Captain" Matt Owens who earned his CFII today!! Matt completed his CFI recently and quickly moved on to focusing on his CFII. Today that hard work paid off as he was handed his temporary CFII Certificate!! Matt knows how to market himself and before he earned this rating, he was already offered a great position at a flight school in Arizona. Matt is packing up his family and moving south. We are so excited for your accomplishment and wish you the best in Arizona! A huge congratulations as well to his instructor Brenden Georg. Great job guys!!
Congratulations to GBA pilot Owen Galassini and his fiancé!! Owen popped the big question this morning as they flew over Tahoe in N2291C! We are so happy for you guys!! Let the adventures begin!
Congratulations to Wynne Allen who became a licensed private pilot this morning!! Wynne is an incredible young woman with an unquestionable skill level when it comes to aviation. Wynne is fierce and stayed focused on becoming a safe, proficient pilot and achieved this huge milestone in under 50 hours. She is determined to continue with aviation and eventually turn her love of flying into a career and possibly service to our country. Wynne is someone who looks a challenge in the eye and gives it a wink. A huge congratulations to her instructor Danny Britson as well! We wish Wynne many successes in your future goals!!
Congratulations to Reno’s newest CFI!! Ryan McMaster earned this distinguished certification today. Ryan has been preparing like crazy despite having a busy work/life schedule. His concentrated effort paid off. The flight portion of Ryan’s checkride has been rescheduled a few times due to weather, but the cold did not stop him this morning as he pre-flighted at 6am and took off with the examiner. Ryan has had many successes here at GBA: instrument rating, commercial, and now a CFI. Up next is CFII! “Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory.”
Two more exciting achievements to finish off the week!
First, Alex Ramirez soloed at KRTS, runway 26 in N37JA at just 12.9 hours!! The air was a bit bumpy but Alex pulled it off like a champ as his instructor Danny Britson watched him take his laps. Alexis is an incredibly focused student and has really taken to aviation and it shows in his flying. Now on to your Private pilot certificate!
Second, Ben Peters passed his Instrument rating checkride in Silver Springs today. Ben has been coming into town the last couple months for blocks at a time and working with Chief CFI Matt Stubblefield to meet all the requirements for this rating. Today he demonstrated what a proficient pilot he is by passing with flying colors.
Celebrate through the weekend guys!! We are so happy for both of you.
Two awesome achievements today!! First, Averiekate Sakelarios soloed in N670CS as her instructor, Stephen Weaver, watched with complete confidence. Averiekate is surrounded by airplanes all the time. Works for the airlines, flies with GBA, and focuses daily on her aviation goals. Awesome job Averiekate!! At this rate, your PPL will be earned in no time. Second, Nick Dorricott, whose name should sound familiar because he passed his CFI just a couple weeks ago, earned his CFII today in Silver Springs. Just another goal accomplished on your way to your new and exciting career in aviation. Congratulations to his instructor, Brenden Georg, as well.
