Today, the skies were no match for the thunderous presence of Zeus Wesley, who unleashed his aviation prowess and soloed in N752DW on runway 26 at KRTS. Just like the Greek god Zeus, known for commanding the heavens, Zeus Wesley took control of the skies, proving that he's ready to strike lightning on his journey to becoming a pilot. As a recipient of the Reno Air Race Association scholarship, Zeus has clearly harnessed the power of the winds to reach new heights. His flight training has been nothing short of electrifying, and today’s solo is a testament to his dedication and skill. While his namesake may have ruled Olympus, our Zeus is the king of the runway. With the winds beneath his wings and the confidence of a deity, Zeus Wesley is now officially soaring solo, ready to make every flight as legendary as his name! Let’s give a thunderous round of applause to Zeus and his flight instructor, Grant Muzzio, who has guided him along this awesome journey! Keep an eye on the horizon—this pilot’s journey is just getting started!

Shawn Tuckett, covert operations specialist, decided to keep his solo a secret from us yesterday afternoon! Nothing gets past the GBA Radar (most times) 😎. Shawn Tuckett isn’t new to this whole aviation thing, though. Deciding to finally jump on the band wagon and get the superior fixed wing rating, Shawn has been flying helicopters ever since. And while he doesn’t flaunt it, Shawn has his helicopter CFII, meaning he may or may not be able to teach his flight instructor, Alex Spencer, a thing or two. When he’s not hiding things from us, Shawn does mechanical work on C130s for the Air Force, juggling the responsibilities that come with being a new dad, and spending time with his lovely wife. We’ve also been told that like his methodical instructor, Shawn Tuckett is a menace when it comes to following the checklist. Let’s give Shawn a huge congratulations on this awesome accomplishment! He may have been around the block in terms of flying, but there’s nothing like doing your first solo, even if it’s in a fixed wing aircraft. Awesome work you two!
Bravo Jeremy, bravo!! And we’re not talking airspace… no, we’re celebrating the fact that incredible musician and pilot aficionado, Jeremy Martinez, has successfully earned his Certified Flight Instructor rating today! Just as Jeremy Martinez has mastered multiple instruments, he has now mastered that art of flight, and is ready to lead a symphony of future aviators! Utilizing the same skill and dedication needed to sight-read and practice his instruments, Jeremy has proven today that consistency and precision are just as important in the cockpit as they are on the stage. And a little fun fact about Jeremy, he is an absolute BEAST on the accordion. I mean seriously, how many people do you actually know who can make an accordion sing like no other? Jeremy is truly a Mozart of his time. Let’s give Jeremy Martinez an encore for his incredible performance today! And we can’t forget his conductor and flight instructor, Bob Bennett, who has led Jeremy to mastery of the sky. Jeremy’s ability to play his instrument and now teach students is truly inspiring, and we can’t wait to see him instill that same inspiration in his students who are reaching to soar to new heights! Amazing work, Jeremy!
“AHHHHH!” Geez, sorry about that. Robert Schuermann has this ummm talent (?) where he can apparently flip his eyelids inside out in “3 different ways” (what does that even mean??) and whenever I see his face I just picture what that looks like. Anyway… Today is a big day for this freak of nature! While Rob’s not poking and prodding at his eyeballs apparently… he’s been an absolute flying machine. And today, he’s proved that not only has he mastered flipping his eyelids inside out but that he can also navigate the skies with the grace and expertise required of a private pilot! That’s right, Rob’s officially a private pilot! Rob’s dedication to his training has been nothing but inspiring. While juggling his adventurous lifestyle, going to the Olympics to watch beach volleyball (we’re not jealous at all by the way…), finishing his ground before doing any flight training, and spending time with his lovely wife and two kitty cats (stop cringing Jenn), Rob has done it all, and with style no less. Let’s give Rob and his flight instructor, who I hope hasn’t had to witness his eyelid talent, Ryan Mill, a huge congratulations on another amazing accomplishment! Great work you two! Now go out and fly!
Huge congratulations to Alex Florez for earning his Private Pilot Certificate!! We’ve got to give it to Alex—this guy is a master time manager like no other. He’s not just a full-time student, but he’s been crushing his prep for the oral exam, staying current in the skies, and still finding time to hit the gym for those solid gains. I mean, check out those veins! 💪 We’re just hoping there’s still time for schoolwork somewhere in there. But that’s not all—Alex is also the proud recipient of the coveted Reno Air Race Association scholarship, and we can’t think of anyone more deserving! This young man embodies hard work, determination, and excellence in everything he does. Whether he's studying or flying, he brings 100% effort every single time. Alex is also one of the most pleasant and respectful people you’ll ever meet. Always positive, always polite—even when we throw a little sass his way (which, let’s be honest, we probably won’t stop). But he takes it all in stride with that great attitude we love! And of course, none of this would’ve been possible without his amazing CFI, Shane Smith! A huge shoutout to Shane for being the rock-solid support that guided Alex to this huge accomplishment. We couldn’t be prouder of Alex and all he’s achieved. The sky’s no limit for this incredible young man. Keep soaring higher, Alex—you’re only getting started!
You may know Nicole Gonzalez from bossing you around on the weekends, but she doesn’t just run the show on the ground—now she’s ruling the skies too! That’s right, our very own document master just earned her commercial pilot certificate! It didn’t happen without some serious hard work and a dash of sass (naturally). Nicole’s resiliency and determination set her apart—whether she’s taking on a mountain of paperwork or nailing those landings. And let’s be honest, the weather always seems to get a little extra when she books a flight, but that never stops her. Nicole's journey reminds us that with enough dedication, even the toughest challenges can be conquered. She’s proof that no matter what stands in your way—whether it’s turbulence or headwinds—you can rise above it all. Big thanks to her CFI, Richard Brong, for being her guide and mentor throughout this adventure. So, let’s hear it for Nicole! She’s not just taking off—she’s soaring. The sky’s no limit when you have the drive, passion, and a little bit of sass. CFI next?? We will see :)
